UNDP Lauds Kaduna Govt’s Commitment to Skills-Based Education, Youth Empowerment

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, CON, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to skills-based education and inclusive development as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) commended the state for its strategic investments in human capital, youth development, agriculture, and social investment.

The commendation came during a courtesy visit by a UNDP delegation led by the Resident Representative, Ms. Elsie Attahfua, alongside officials from the Office of the Vice President.

Discussions centred on deepening collaboration through the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP), a Federal Government initiative implemented under the Office of the Vice President, with support from UNDP and the European Union.

The UNDP delegation praised Kaduna State’s deliberate focus on skills acquisition and youth empowerment, highlighting the establishment of the Kaduna State Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development as a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to sustainable development and job-ready education. They also acknowledged the state’s investments in agriculture and social intervention programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and economic resilience.

Governor Uba Sani commended UNDP for its continued support to Kaduna State across critical sectors, noting that the partnership aligns with his administration’s vision of building an integrated and smart Kaduna State. He described the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme as a vital bridge between education and employment, helping young graduates gain relevant skills and adapt to an increasingly competitive labour market.

The Governor подчеркed that his administration remains firmly committed to investing in people, stressing that education without access to decent work opportunities is incomplete.

He reaffirmed Kaduna State’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government, UNDP, and other development partners, particularly in priority sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture, construction, and services.

Governor Uba Sani assured the delegation that Kaduna State remains open, ready, and committed to partnerships that align with its development priorities and improve the quality of life of its citizens, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration will deliver a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous state driven by empowered people and sustainable local solutions.
