The Chief Imam of Gusau GRA Jumuat Mosque, Sheikh Tukur Sani Jangeme who resigned his position has fled to another state.

Recalled that, Sheikh Jangeme resigned his position as Chief Imam last Friday following a video clip that went viral where he was seen condemning the state Governor, Dauda Lawal and praising his predecessor and arch rival, Bello Matawale.

The video clip had gone viral on social media platforms which has generated mixed reactions and controversy among political elites and religious communities in the state. 

Speaking to Analyzer news on phone, Sheikh Jangebe said he has left the state for security reasons as well as to douse the tension generated by his comments in the video clip.

He said, “I am not in Zamfara state at the moment”.

“I decided to leave the state for security reasons and also to let the matter die down naturally”.

“You are aware that, some people are not happy with what I have said in that video clip, as such, I decided to resign my position as Chief Imam and also leave the state”.

The cleric however refused to disclose where he was at the moment.

He also refused to make further comments despite pressure by Analyzer news. 

It could also be recalled that Sheikh Jangebe had a similar scenario during the administration of former Governor Bello Mattawalle where he served as commissioner for Religious Affairs.

Jangebe resigned his appointment as a commissioner of religious affairs at that time due to alleged none performance of former Governor Matawalle.
