Seadogs Hold 15th Ralph Opara Memorial Lecture

The National Association Of Seadogs, ( Pyrates Confraternity) has organized the 15th Ralph Opara Memorial Lecture in Kaduna State.

The theme of the event is Quality Education for the Girl Child and Children with Disability in Northern Nigeria: Challenge and Way Forward

In his remarks, the International President, of the National Association of Seadogs /Pyrates Confraternity, Mr. Abiola Owoaje said that the program was designed to create an opportunity to learn from experts and children themselves.

Owoaje noted  that as part of this year’s International Day of Education, stakeholders at the memorial lecture would highlight the challenges facing the girl child, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

He said that Seadogs was carrying out activities in the form of advocacy to highlight issues to the government to see where things could improve and called on the government to invest more resources in education and improve the quality of teachers for the girl child.Also speaking.

In an interview with journalists,   the Head of Branch National Library, Kaduna State, Mrs. Egwuibe Martin, said  the programs were in line with the UNESCO stipulations for inclusive quality education to everyone including people living with Disdisabilities.

She explained that the National Library had partnerships with Seadogs and other donor agencies in the area of advocacy and community services as well as free medical services at Primary Healthcare Centres just as she encouraged children to have the habit of visiting the library to boost their reading culture.
