2024 Hajj: NAHCON Tasks Journalists On Professional  Ethics

The Chairman  National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON)  Alhaji Jalal Arabi has urged  journalists always be guided be their profession hroughout the pilgrimage.

The chairman of the commission, Malam Jalal Arabi, stated  this  during the inauguration of the National Media Team for the 2024 Hajj in Abuja.

The chairman stressed the importance of upholding ethical standards and doing what is right with sincerity and conscientiousness.

He  encouraged the media team to offer guidance to other pilgrims where necessary, emphasising their dual role as both reporters and participants.

He  also underscored the significance of media professionals maintaining integrity in their work, as their reports can significantly impact communities.

Arabi  reminded the media team  of the high expectations placed upon them during the pilgrimage..

in his remarks, Prof Abubakar Yagawal, NAHCON’s Commissioner of Planning Research, Statistics, Information, and Library Services urged the media team to safeguard Nigeria’s interests and portray NAHCON positively.

He told the media professionals about the principle of responsible information sharing, citing Prophet Muhammad’s teachings that believers should speak good or remain silent.

Also speaking, Commissioner of Operations, Anofi Elegushi, said the media has been an important part of hajj operations, adding that “whatever we do in Saudi Arabia must be reported back home.”
