The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria IPMAN has called for effective government support to actively participate in the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversation Programme.
The National President of IPMAN, Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi Shettima Garima made the call in a media interview with Journalists in Kaduna.
He explained that if properly supported by government, the participation of IPMAN in the CNG programme would yield positive results as expected.
The IPMAN President appealed to government to provide them with reduction in the price of the conversation kits to enable them actively engage in the scheme, saying we have alot of retail outlets in the country, the measure would ease the process among the association’s members.
He further appealed to government to also endeavour to provide the IPMAN members with a single digit loan to ease their participation in the CNG Scheme.
Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi Shettima Garima stated that the Compressed Natural Gas Scheme is capital intensive, hence the need for adequate support on the part of the government, to achieve the desired results.
He pointed out that with this development and CNG as a source of energy which is cheaper, there will be reduction in transportation cost of food items.
According to him with the enactment of laws backing the CNG Scheme, the IPMAN would be able to come up with what he called ” Daughter Stations” in existing stations and “Mother Stations” in the Geo- Political Zones of the country, to enable the association members have access to the Compressed Natural Gas.
He advised that apart from the loan, government can decide to select like fifty filling stations in Abuja, Lagos, Kano and PortHacourt, while others ten-ten can be selected to install the Daughter Stations, for the IPMAN to be paying installmentally.
