The Network of Peace Journalists (NPJ) has commended Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Peacecore for organizing a three-day media training workshop in Kaduna aimed at strengthening the role of journalists in peacebuilding.

Speaking at the close of the programme, NPJ Team Leader, Ibrahima Yakubu, said the training brought together practitioners from diverse media organizations and equipped them with modern techniques in fact-checking and verification of text and visual content.

Participants were also trained on the use of digital media in peacebuilding and communication for development (C4D).

Yakubu noted that the skills gained would enable journalists to better promote peace, unity, and stability in their communities.

He praised the facilitators and media experts for their commitment to enhancing capacity in digital tools and urged participants to apply the lessons learned, particularly in strengthening fact-checking and adopting peace-oriented reporting practices.
