The Makarfi Local Government Council speaker Hon. Yusha’u Jibril has announced plans to empower no fewer than 200 women with a total sum of ₦2 million as part of efforts to promote economic self-reliance and improve livelihoods across the area.
The initiative, which targets women engaged in small-scale businesses, was disclosed in a press conference held at Nigeri Union Of journalists Kaduna state secretary.
According to the speaker the empowerment programme is designed to support women entrepreneurs through financial assistance that will enable them to expand their businesses and improve household incomes.

He noted that the programme reflects the council’s commitment to inclusive development and women empowerment at the grassroots level.
Hon. Jibril explained that women play a critical role in the economic and social development of the local government, stressing that empowering them would translate into improved welfare for families and the community at large.
“This empowerment programme is aimed at supporting 200 women who are involved in various small-scale trades such as food processing, petty trading and other income-generating activities. By providing this financial support, we hope to strengthen their businesses and reduce poverty,” he said.
The empowerment programme aimed at supporting 200 women with a total sum of ₦2 million is scheduled to hold on Saturday at Danguzuri Primary School in Makarfi Local Government Area.
The programme, organised by the Speaker of the Makarfi Local Government Council, is designed to provide financial support to women engaged in small-scale businesses, with the goal of promoting self-reliance and improving household livelihoods.
Beneficiaries drawn from different wards of the local government are expected to receive startup capital to expand their businesses. The organisers said the venue was chosen to ensure easy access and wide participation by women from surrounding communities.
The event is expected to attract community leaders, women groups and other stakeholders, who will witness the disbursement of the funds and encourage beneficiaries to utilise the support judiciously for sustainable economic growth.
