A pro-government group, Progressive Thinkers for Asiwaju 2027, has commended Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, describing him as a “living legend” whose return to national service signals renewed momentum in the country’s fight against insecurity.
The group made the commendation in a press statement signed by its National Coordinator, Engr. Musa Dan Borno.
In the statement, the group praised General Musa’s long and distinguished military career, noting that he built a strong reputation during operations in Nigeria’s North-East where he played a significant role in the fight against the insurgent group Boko Haram.
According to the coalition, his leadership and tactical strategies contributed to major successes against insurgents, restoring hope to communities that had suffered years of violence and instability.
The group also highlighted his performance during active service, which it said earned him his appointment as Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, where he coordinated joint operations among the armed forces and strengthened cooperation within the military.
It further described his appointment as Minister of Defence by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a rare return to national service after retirement.
The statement recalled that a similar development occurred in Nigeria’s history when retired General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma was appointed Minister of Defence during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The group also commended the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for his role in addressing banditry and other security challenges in parts of northern Nigeria.
In addition, it praised the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for his efforts in coordinating national security strategies and facilitating the rescue of kidnapping victims across the country.
The organisation stated that the appointments of Musa, Matawalle and Ribadu by President Tinubu have strengthened Nigeria’s security framework and improved coordination among the country’s security agencies.
The group reaffirmed its support for the administration of President Tinubu, expressing confidence that the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda will continue to address insecurity and strengthen national stability.
