The leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, has distributed bags of rice to hundreds of Christian widows in Kaduna as part of efforts to support vulnerable members of society.

The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru.

Speaking at the event, Pastor Buru said the gesture reflects El-Zakzaky’s long-standing commitment to assisting both Muslims and Christians, particularly during the Sallah period, in a bid to promote peace, unity, and stronger interfaith relationships.

He noted that this year’s intervention comes at a critical time, as many families are struggling with economic hardship and the rising cost of living.

According to him, Christian widows have benefited from similar acts of generosity over the years, describing the support as consistent and impactful.

Pastor Buru added that the distribution is specifically targeted at widows to help ease their burden and encourage them to continue praying for the peace and progress of the nation.

One of the beneficiaries, Rahab Moses, expressed deep appreciation for the support, revealing that her family had gone without food for two days prior to receiving the donation.

She called on Nigerians to embrace peace and unity, urging both Christians and Muslims to work together for the country’s development.

Rahab also appealed to the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, to prioritise the welfare of widows and orphans, assuring him of their continued prayers for the success of his administration.
