The Association of Nigerian Universities Alumni (ANUA), in partnership with the Kaduna State University (KASU) Alumni Association, has honoured Isma’il Yusuf Ashafa, PhD (Sardaunan Ikulu), with a Special Recognition Award at its Second Quarter General Assembly and Symposium.
The event brought together academics, government officials and other stakeholders to celebrate individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted education, leadership and national development.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, Dr. Ashafa expressed gratitude to ANUA and the KASU Alumni Association for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to continue serving humanity and promoting educational excellence.
He applauded Governor Uba Sani for implementing policies aimed at improving access to higher education, particularly the reduction of tuition fees in Kaduna State-owned tertiary institutions, which he said has eased the financial burden on students from disadvantaged families.
Dr. Ashafa also urged governments, policymakers, the private sector and development partners to deepen collaboration with universities to strengthen teaching, research, innovation and human capital development, stressing that quality education remains the foundation for sustainable national progress.
Other award recipients included the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator (Dr.) Uba Sani; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa; the Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Professor Abdullahi I. Musa; Professor Yakubu Aboki Ochefu; the Wazirin Ikulu, Chief Anthony Ayasal, PhD; and the Emir of Kagarko, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad, alongside other distinguished Nigerians.
