The Senior Special Assistant to the Kaduna State Governor on Security, Hon. Bamai Abu Nehemiah, has commended Governor Uba Sani for what he described as the successful implementation of the Kaduna Peace Model, saying the administration has transformed the state’s security landscape and restored public confidence.

Bamai stated this in an interview with journalists, where he said Kaduna State, once regarded as one of Nigeria’s most insecure states, has witnessed remarkable improvements in security under Governor Uba Sani’s leadership.

According to him, before the present administration assumed office, Kaduna was widely perceived as a security hotspot. However, through the governor’s inclusive peace-building initiatives, dialogue, intelligence-driven security operations and collaboration with security agencies and community leaders, the situation has changed significantly.

He noted that the improvement in security has also been acknowledged internationally, pointing out that the United Kingdom Government recently reviewed its travel advisory for Kaduna State, changing its status from red to amber, an indication of improved security conditions.

Bamai recalled that on June 16, the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary visited Kaduna and travelled by road from Abuja to Kaduna without a security escort, describing the development as a strong vote of confidence in the state’s improved security environment.

“The Abuja-Kaduna highway, which was once dreaded by travellers, is now largely safe for movement. Likewise, the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna road, where travellers previously required heavy security escorts, has become accessible. Today, people can travel even late at night without the fear that once characterised the route,” he said.

He added that commercial activities have also returned to Birnin Gwari, with the reopening of the international market and increased movement of people and goods. According to him, many roads linking Kaduna to neighbouring communities have become safer as a result of the administration’s sustained security interventions.

The governor’s aide further stated that the Kaduna Peace Model has become a reference point for peace-building and conflict resolution, adding that several governors in the North-West have shown interest in adopting similar approaches in their states.

He said Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to peace and inclusive governance has earned him several awards and recognition from organisations within and outside the country.

Bamai also observed that since Governor Uba Sani assumed office, Kaduna State has not witnessed any major ethno-religious crisis, attributing the achievement to the administration’s policy of dialogue, inclusiveness and proactive conflict prevention.

He equally praised the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Sule Shu’aibu, SAN, for his dedication and unwavering commitment to complementing Governor Uba Sani’s security agenda.

According to him, the commissioner’s close coordination with security agencies, traditional institutions and community stakeholders has contributed significantly to sustaining peace and stability across the state.

Bamai reaffirmed that the Kaduna State Government would continue to prioritise the protection of lives and property, stressing that peace and security remain the foundation for sustainable development and economic growth.
