Chairman of Fagge Local Government Council in Kano state Hon. Salisu Usman Masu, has commended Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for granting local government chairmen the independence to initiate and execute development projects without undue interference.

Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of a three-day leadership and capacity-building seminar for the 44 local government chairmen and key stakeholders in Kaduna, Hon. Masu said the governor’s approach has strengthened local government administration and enhanced service delivery across the state.

According to him, Governor Yusuf has demonstrated confidence in the leadership of local councils by allowing them to identify the needs of their communities and implement projects that directly address the aspirations of the people.

> “The governor has given us a free hand to operate and execute projects. This has enabled us to respond to the needs of our people promptly and without unnecessary bottlenecks,” he stated.
The Fagge council chairman noted that the autonomy enjoyed by local governments under the present administration has translated into improvements in critical sectors, including healthcare, education, rural road infrastructure and water supply.

He disclosed that Fagge Local Government has already embarked on several community-based projects since the inception of the current administration, with the aim of improving the welfare and living conditions of residents.

Hon. Masu further called on political leaders, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to support Governor Yusuf’s efforts to strengthen grassroots governance, describing local government as the foundation for sustainable development and effective public service delivery.

The chairman spoke during the seminar organised by the Kano State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in collaboration with ANHI Consultants International Limited. The three-day programme brought together the 44 local government chairmen, traditional rulers and development partners to discuss strategies for improving governance, ethical leadership and project implementation at the grassroots.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf attended the closing ceremony of the workshop, where he presented certificates to participants and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building the capacity of local government officials and traditional institutions to promote good governance, transparency and accountability across Kano State.
