The Kaduna State Government has appealed to the German Government to extend its support for security and peacebuilding initiatives in the state, particularly the Security Trust Centre project.

The appeal was made by the Senior Special Assistant on Security to the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Hon. Bamai Abu Nehemia, during a visit by the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Stefan Roessel, to the palace of the Sa Gbagyi, Etsu Chikun, in Kaduna State.

Bamai commended the German Government for its contributions towards strengthening security and promoting peaceful coexistence among communities in Kaduna State.

He said the establishment of the Security Trust Centre had contributed significantly to the state’s peacebuilding efforts over the past nine months.

According to him, Governor Uba Sani’s administration has adopted an inclusive approach to addressing security challenges by bringing together different groups in society, irrespective of their religious, ethnic and social backgrounds.

He explained that the Kaduna Peace Model was designed to promote the rule of law, peaceful coexistence and social inclusion, while ensuring that women, traditional institutions and previously disengaged members of society participate actively in the peace process.

The security aide also acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers, particularly the royal father, in bringing communities together and encouraging peaceful relationships among different groups.

Bamai disclosed that Kaduna’s peacebuilding approach had attracted recognition from the Federal Government and interest from other states, noting that insecurity required collective efforts and sustained partnerships.

While appreciating the German Government for its continued partnership, he appealed for an extension of the project, stressing that despite the progress recorded, several security and social challenges still required attention.

He expressed optimism that sustained collaboration between the Kaduna State Government and its international partners would further strengthen peace, security and development across the state.
