RMAFC Boss Hails  FG For Approving N70, 000  New Minimum Wage

As the federal government approves the payment of seventy thousand naira minimum wage to Nigerian workers, states and Local Governments have been tasked to support the new initiative to achieve success.

The Executive chairman Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission RMAFC, Dr Mohammed Bello Shehu made the call, while speaking with Journalists in a telephone interview in Kaduna.

He said the federal government’s approval of the seventy thousand naira was done with good intention to provide succour to the workers, after a long period of dialogue and discussions on the new minimum wage.

According to the Executive Chairman Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, President Bola Ahmed Tunubu had to intervene in the minimum wage negotiations, knowing that the economic challenges currently faced by many Nigerians, and the need to provide urgent succour.

Dr MB Shehu said while the new minimum wage is a good development, if its implemented, especially in the states and local government levels should be accorded priority to achieve success.

He advised the states and local governments in the country to enhance their internal revenue generation to argument efforts towards implementation of the new minimum wage.

The RMAFC boss also contended that President Tinubu’s approval for the new minimum wage is a positive steps towards improving the living conditions of the nation’s work force.

The Executive Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission also commended President Bola Ahmed Tunubu for ordering immediate payment of four months withheld salaries to members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities SSANU and Non Acsdemic Staff Union NASU.

Dr MB Shehu therefore urged the beneficiaries of the Mr President’s gesture to improve their performance.
