The African Mothers Initiative (AMI) has successfully held its Peace Summit and inaugurated its newly elected State Executive Committee in a colourful ceremony that brought together women leaders security agencies, community stakeholders, and representatives of government officials. 

The event, held in Kadunq at Arewa house , served as a platform to promote peacebuilding, unity, and women’s active participation in peace building.

In her opening remarks, the National President of the African Mothers Initiative, Ambassador Margaret Mkpanam,  emphasized the critical role of mothers and women iin peace building.  She noted that peace begins from the home, and empowering women to become peace ambassadors is vital to achieving sustainable stability in society.

The highlight of the occasion was the formal inauguration of the newly constituted State Executive,  charged with the responsibility of coordinating the organization’s activities across local government areas. 

The newly inaugurated State Coordinator, Angela Adamu Dogo ,  expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to uphold the mission and vision of the Initiative.

She reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to implementing peace-centered programs, supporting women’s empowerment, and engaging with government agencies and non-governmental organizations to promote social harmony.

Dignitaries at the event commended the African Mothers Initiative for its consistent advocacy on women empowerment, child welfare, and conflict resolution. They urged the new executives to work collectively in addressing challenges affecting mothers and children in their communities.

The Peace Summit also featured cultural performances and awards of recognition to outstanding women and  distinguished personalities who have contributed to peace and humanitarian work.

With the inauguration of its state leadership, the African Mothers Initiative is poised to deepen its grassroots impact, foster peaceful coexistence, and amplify the voices of women in leadership and development processes.
