The Federal Controller of Works in Kano, under the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, has been honoured with the Media Award of Excellence by the Northern Tourism Journalists Forum (NTJF) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to national development.
The award, presented in 2026, acknowledged the Controller’s pivotal role in advancing infrastructure development and supporting government initiatives aimed at improving the nation’s road network and economic growth.
Presenting the award in Kano, the Acting National Secretary of the forum, Usman Yahaya, commended the recipient for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to duty. He noted that the Controller’s efforts have significantly impacted the development of critical infrastructure, particularly in northern Nigeria.
According to Yahaya, the award is part of the forum’s efforts to recognise and celebrate individuals who have distinguished themselves in public service and contributed meaningfully to national progress.
In his response, the award recipient Engr. Abdulsalam Dayyabu Kurfi, expressed
appreciation to the Northern Tourism Journalists Forum for the recognition, describing it as a motivation to continue delivering quality service. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s agenda on infrastructure development and ensuring the timely execution of projects.
The event was attended by members of the forum, government officials, who lauded the initiative as a step towards encouraging excellence and accountability in public service.
