A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) Agboola Adegboyega, has called on the ruling party to manage the internal crisis rocking the party across the country, occasioned by its concluded primaries.

He urged the party leadership to look into the agitations of party members, especially those with genuine complaints, and ensure that issues are resolved amicably in the interest of the party and not in the interest of some individuals who do not want the party to succeed.

The party chieftain stated this in a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna at the weekend, where he emphasized that  aggrieved members of the party who were dropped from the final list of the party’s candidates submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), be considered.

He explained that the aftermath of the primaries is still lingering across the entire country, hence the need for urgent intervention of all stakeholders in order to repositioned the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

“This is urgently needed to address grievances arising from the primaries and take steps to restore confidence among party faithful ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adegboyega emphasized that the way and manner the primaries were conducted in most cases under the Whims” and “caprices of some Governors, dictating who takes what and not, is undemocratic.

The party Chieftain therefore called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda,
to look into the allegations of imposition of candidates, backdoor consensus arrangements, arbitrary disqualifications and substitution of duly elected winners of the primaries across the states.

In the statement, the Adegboyega also frowned at what he described as Imposition of unpopular candidates in some states as the flagbearers of the party.

He opined that such action might trigger internal disintegration, massive defections,  electoral failures and loss of support for APC in the coming general elections.

Adegboyega cited the example of Kwara, Ogun, Ondo and some other states across the country, where names of popular candidates and their supporters were removed from the final list submitted to INEC.

The statement was coming a few days after governorship aspirants in Kwara State protested the governor’s leadership style, and  called for urgent national intervention.
